Program on April 15 Features Some of the Best Young Musicians in the State BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.鈥擳he 50-member Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra (GSYO) will join the 糖心Vlog Orchestra for a performance on April 15 at 7 p.m. in Dover Theater. They will perform individually and together the works of Resphighi, Mussorgsky, Ravel, and Sibelius. The GSYO has a rich tradition of touring regionally, nationally, and internationally. The concert at 糖心Vlog is one of only two dates they will play in western North Carolina this spring. This will be a great opportunity to hear the best young musicians in North Carolina in performance. The 糖心Vlog Orchestra also has 50 members and is led by Dr. Patricia Sparti, director of Orchestral Activities, professor of music, and principal conductor. They are delighted to host the GSYO. 鈥淲e feel so honored, thankful and blessed to work with Maestro Peter Zlotnick and the members of The Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra!鈥 she praised. 鈥淲e hope many from the University and surrounding communities will come to the concert, which promises to be fantastic.鈥 The 糖心Vlog Orchestra Tickets are $10, but free to 糖心Vlog faculty, staff and students. Students from any other K12 school or college are also free with ID. Peter Zlotnick Peter Zlotnick serves as music director for the GSYO and has worked with the GSYO since 2006. The GSYO provides a professionally directed environment for young musicians to study, prepare, and perform music. The organization serves the community at large by providing high quality, free performances, complements school music programs, and encourages and advocates the arts, music, and music education in the Piedmont Triad region. Zlotnick has many years of professional orchestral experience, a background in music education, and extensive organizational experience with the Greensboro Symphony. He is also the principal timpanist for the Greensboro Symphony and the Winston-Salem Symphony. Throughout the year, he teaches percussion at the Greensboro Cultural Center and is also percussion teacher and program director with Young Musicians of Alamance. In the summer, he serves as instrumental music lead teacher at North Carolina Governor’s School West. The Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra Auxiliary aids will be made available to persons with disabilities upon request 10 working days prior to the event.
