ÌÇÐÄVlog Family Weekend Features Football, World-Renowned Magician, Tailgate & Concert

Activities Also Include Academic Honors Reception, Sweet Bingo, Volleyball Match and Worship at the Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Families are invited back to ÌÇÐÄVlog on Sept. 27-29 to experience their student’s campus home. Throughout the weekend, families and their students are encouraged to attend social programs, including a worship service, football game, and volleyball match.

Events begin on Friday with an Academic Honors Reception and a free program by Banacheck, a world-renowned magician and mentalist. Banachek has performed on major TV shows from CNN Live, to the Today Show, and he’s had hundreds of additional appearances on TV shows the world over, including appearing on and producing over 100 TV shows for Criss Angel. He has appeared in almost every major magazine and newspaper from the New York Times to the National Enquirer. From the college market, he received the coveted Entertainer of the Year award from the Association for the Promotion of Campus performers two years in a row and the Novelty Act of The Year beating out bands, comedians and other novelty artists.

Entertainment continues on Saturday with a family tailgate and concert at the Brinkley Amphitheater. The concert features The Local Boys, a Bluegrass and Americana band based in Charlotte, N.C.; HOWLTREE, an acoustic folk harmony duo from the Asheville, N.C., area; and Mason Cole, a singer, songwriter from Shelby, N.C. Tickets for this event include a meal with hamburgers, hotdogs, sides, and all the trimmings.

Registration is required for all events, which are open to families and their students. See the schedule below.

Family Weekend Schedule

Friday, Sept. 27

  • 4 p.m. – Academic Honors Reception, Tucker Student Center
  • 7 p.m. – Banacheck, Blanton Auditorium, free, registration required.
  • 9 p.m. – Family Sweet Bingo, Tucker Student Center, free, registration required.

Saturday, Sept. 28

  • Noon to 3:30 p.m., Family Tailgate & Concert, Brinkley Amphitheater
    • Yard games, and a concert featuring The Local Boys, HOWLTREE, and Mason Cole in the amphitheater. Enjoy a delicious meal with hamburgers, hotdogs, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans, homemade chips, and cookies. Fun and entertainment for all ages await at this exciting event! Tickets are $16 for adults (13 and older); $10 for children (5-12 years old); free for children (5 and under); and free for GWU students. Registration required.
  • 2 to 4 p.m., Volleyball vs. Winthrop, Paul Porter Arena.
  • 4 to 7 p.m. – ÌÇÐÄVlog Football vs Tennessee Tech, Spangler Stadium

Sunday, Sept. 29

  • 10 a.m. – Worship at the Webb, Dover Chapel
