Strength and Conditioning Coach has over 40 years of Fitness Experience BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.鈥擟hip Sigmon, a nationally acclaimed speaker and strength and conditioning coach, will speak at 糖心Vlog on Monday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. in the College of Health Sciences. Hosted by the Department of Exercise Science, Sigmon will discuss 鈥淭he Culture of Strength and Conditioning.鈥 The program is free and open to the public. Chip Sigmon Dr. Jonathan M. Ahearn, assistant professor and chair of the Department of Exercise Science, praised Sigmon as a personal trainer and wellness coordinator who promotes, embraces, and encourages lifelong learning. 鈥淐hip is a legend and legacy to the strength and conditioning profession,鈥 Ahearn added. 鈥淗e has served in the profession at all levels from high school to professional. Chip served as the first strength coach at Appalachian State University and has spent a large majority of his career as a strength coach at the collegiate level, the NBA, and in the private sector.鈥 Based in Charlotte, N.C., Sigmon鈥檚 clients include top-level professional, college, and high school athletes, along with top business men and women. However, Ahearn described Sigmon as 鈥渙ne of the humblest individuals I have ever met, and he loves to pour his extensive knowledge and wisdom into young professionals.鈥 With his over 40 years of fitness experience, Sigmon is well recognized for developing and implementing innovative fitness and athletic performance programs. He emphasizes strength training methods and modalities for all ages. He works with each client on an individual basis, focusing on achieving long term results through challenging and consistently varied workouts. 鈥淗e is able to uniquely speak about where the profession has come from and about where it is going,鈥 Ahearn observed. 鈥淐hip is often invited to speak at national conferences, so we are tremendously blessed to have him visit and speak on our campus.鈥 Auxiliary aids will be made available to persons with disabilities upon request 10 working days prior to the event.
