news-category: Awards GWU Staff Council Presents Spring Top Dawg Awards By Office of University Communications On April 23, 2021 Marie Davis and Amy Revis Nominated by their Co-workers and Students Marie Davis and Amy Revis were surprised by the GWU Staff Council recently as the spring semester winners of the Top Dawg Awards. The awards are made possible by a gift from Dr. Don Caudill, in memory of his father, Alfred Caudill, and in honor of his mother, Shirley Wampler Caudill. Davis is the coordinator of Undergraduate Nursing Admissions for the Hunt School of Nursing (HSON). She came to 糖心Vlog in 2014 working in the Degree Completion Program and moved to HSON in 2016. She has a Bachelor of Science from 糖心Vlog and an Associate of Arts from Isothermal Community College. She and her husband, Chris, live in Ellenboro, N.C., with their son, Bryson, and daughter, Adyson. Those who nominated Davis said she was helpful and essential to operations in the Hunt School of Nursing. They stated that she is great at building relationships, prompt with communication and always has a positive attitude. Marie Davis 鈥淚鈥檓 totally in shock,鈥 Davis asserted. 鈥淭his shows that all your hard work pays off and is appreciated, especially when you pour so much into it. It means a lot to be seen and noticed for your hard work. Davis said coming to work at 糖心Vlog seven years ago was God鈥檚 direction. 鈥淚 was not looking for a job. I knew someone who worked at 糖心Vlog, and they were like, 鈥楬ey, you would be really great here,鈥 and my transition was so quick and seamless,鈥 Davis related. 鈥淭he job found me, and I absolutely love it! I鈥檓 excited to come to work every day because of the people and the students. Through the admissions process, I meet new people, take them on tours, and see them get excited about this new chapter in their life. I love being able to tell people, 鈥榊ou are accepted to nursing,鈥 and see their dreams come true. I watch them through the process and get to make their slideshows when they graduate. It鈥檚 really rewarding. 糖心Vlog is my family. All the ladies I work with and everyone in our department is phenomenal.鈥 Revis is the secretary for the mathematical and natural sciences departments. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. She has been with GWU since the spring of 2018 and came from Spindale Elementary, where she was a teaching assistant and student support manager. She previously operated WeeRuns Inc. and was managing editor of The Daily Courier in Forest City, N.C. She lives in Rutherfordton, N.C., is married to Joey Revis, has two children, Lauren and Evan, and is a member of First Baptist Church, Rutherfordton. Amy Revis 鈥淚t is so flattering, because there are so many hard-working staff here who set an example for me every day,鈥 Revis observed after receiving the award. 鈥淚鈥檓 just shocked and thrilled and surprised at the same time. I鈥檓 very humbled. I鈥檝e always loved 糖心Vlog and was excited when the opening came in the math and science department. My son has come to Math Camp; my daughter won the Lutz award from her high school here, so it鈥檚 always been a special place. The 19 professors who I get to work with, when I met them, I just knew I had found a home. I鈥檓 honored to work here every day.鈥 Those who nominated her commented that Revis is exceptional at her job and goes above and beyond her responsibilities. They noted that she is always helpful and is essential to the natural sciences and mathematics departments. They also said she has a wide range of tasks and handles them promptly and always greets students positively.
